ELOPE IN RENO-TAHOE

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many couples to get creative with their wedding plans. While an elopement wedding isn't a new concept for couples, for some, it means downsizing their original wedding plans while for others it's preference. Whether your wedding has been affected by the pandemic or if you prefer a more intimate setting, Reno-Tahoe offers such great resources and amazing locations!

What's an Elopement?

THE TERM ELOPEMENT WAS ORIGINALLY COINED TO DEFINE THE IDEA OF A "RUNAWAY" WEDDING WHERE THE COUPLE GETS MARRIED IN A SECRETIVE MANNER WITHOUT TELLING FRIENDS OR FAMILY. WHILE THIS WAS TRUE IN THE OLDEN DAYS, THE DEFINITION HAS EVOLVED OVERTIME. IN TODAY'S INTERPRETATION, AN ELOPEMENT MEANS AN INTIMATE WEDDING OR A "MICROWEDDING" THAT INVOLVES JUST THE TWO OF YOU OR A MINIMAL NUMBER OF GUESTS IN A MORE CASUAL SETTING.

An elopement wedding is relaxed but it still takes real planning. You still need to think about some things such as: Where are you going to elope? Who will you invite? Do you want traditional elements integrated with non-traditional details? The good news is, your wedding day is still your wedding day which means you have so much room to make it entirely yours. And however you approach your wedding day there are many scenic locations as well as venues in our area that can be tailored to your style; some even take all the pressure off and plan it for you! How about that for a no-stress wedding?

TOP THREE REASONS

TO ELOPE IN RENO-TAHOE

1. LOCATIONS

Who says you can't have a real wedding venue for your elopement?

The Whitney Peak Hotel is right in the heart of downtown Reno and checks all the boxes for your urban intimate wedding. Everything is right where you need it: a beautiful King Suite to call home for a few days, a restaurant that serves your faves, and in addition there's BaseCamp; the home of the world's tallest artificial climbing wall for your daring soul.  As if these amenities weren't enough, you get to work with their dedicated wedding planner that meticulously makes your elopement wedding dreams a reality! You can choose to celebrate with up to eight of your closest friends and family with champagne, cake, a floral bouquet plus other optional add-ons available and carefully custom crafted just for you. There's really not much else to do but to show-up!

If you envision your fairytale in a more idyllic setting, oh does Reno have the perfect venue for you!

The Hytch at Sierra Water Gardens is nestled right along the Truckee River and it has all the charm you want from a romantic wedding venue. With their team of planners that exude creativity that is out of this world, their eccentric yet avant-garde approach to designing the perfect setting to an already flourishing location will blow your mind. It's picturesque, it's beautiful and it's dreamy. The most difficult decision you'll make for having your wedding here would be... well, there really won't be one!

I haven't forgotten about one other (and most popular!) location: Lake Tahoe!

The most amazing thing about an elopement is that you can choose to have an actual venue or nix it completely. And the beautiful thing about Reno-Tahoe is that we've really got so much to offer.

From the North Shore to the South Shore, there's no shortage of scenic locations to say your "I do's" even if you're not an avid hiker. Lake Tahoe is a paradise that offers natural beauty all year long... Need I say more?

2. WEDDING VENDORS

You will find that planning your elopement in Reno-Tahoe is very easy. If you choose to be super low-key all you really need for your wedding day is an officiant, a floral designer, and me as your photographer. *wink*

You need an officiant? No problem!

Mindy Haffke is a non-denominational officiant that values the process of getting to know you because she prides herself in tailoring your wedding ceremony to your love story. She's adventurous (so lace up those boots!), she's creative, and she's witty which all come in handy if you also need help writing your vows. Mindy guides you through the entire process and takes care of all the legalities. Trust me when I say, she's got your back!

Now let's talk about florals...

"Soft, dreamy, and pretty." I'm sure I've used these three words to tell Ridhi Joshi of Zuri Floral Design of what I envision a perfect wedding bouquet to be. Her style is elevated, finessed, and delicate. You don't have to give her much to go on but it doesn't matter because she always delivers. Ridhi's heart truly shines when she designs custom florals for her couples because she takes such great care in knowing your style that she executes perfectly every time. You won't be disappointed!

I love working with both Mindy and Ridhi due to their professionalism and values. They are people I know will serve you with the utmost respect and care with your end goal in mind!

3. SET THIS DAY APART

There's a misconception that elopements are fast and short.

Yes, the ceremony may only last a few minutes but you've got the entire day to celebrate! Just because you may choose to have minimal to no guests it doesn't mean you should only have photos of a glimpse of what is such a special milestone in your love story. While it's very important to have these photos, I believe you deserve to have tangible memories of everything else in between too. Your adventures together on the day of your elopement will be something you'll cherish for the rest of your lives!

Your wedding day is still your wedding day. I encourage you to be creative and think about how you can set this day apart from all the other days you've had together. What's beautiful about an elopement wedding is that you can create such amazing memories out of the mundane. You've got all you need - the location, the wedding vendors, and the love of your life...

So why wouldn't you?

This is the BIGGEST day of your lives after all!
