I had the honor of photographing this lovable family of four: Alicia, Orrin, Lillian, and Henry. I met Alicia a few months ago when I finally decided to take my photography business to the next level and form my LLC. Johnson Law Practice came up as one of the highest ranked attorneys in Reno, so I trusted the reviews and got in touch with her. I'm so glad I did because it is one of the best business decisions I've made so far. Not only is Alicia professional but she is also very kind. At our meeting, she mentioned that she's been meaning to get her family together for pictures, so naturally, I offered my services to her and then later got their family session booked.
A lot has happened since then... Alicia invited me to attend a meeting for a networking group which positively contributed to my growth as an entrepreneur and business owner. She also referred me to a CPA who has been very helpful with handling my business finances. I appreciate that Alicia keeps me in mind even after the fact of forming my LLC. She has played an integral role in establishing my business and for that I am grateful.
So I was really sad to hear the news when Alicia told me she went through emergency surgery right before their scheduled session. We pushed the date back a few weeks and last weekend I was happy to see that she was back to normal and healthy as can be like nothing ever happened. She was all smiles and vibrant in front of the camera. We met at her mom and dad's house where she grew up and also where she and Orrin got married 13 years ago. I can see why they chose their backyard as their wedding venue and also as the location for their family pictures; her mom Peggy is a talented gardener and did such an amazing job in creating a zen-like landscape. I was extremely honored to have been able to step foot and take photos of their family in such a beautiful garden. It is absolutely stunning!
Their family is just adorable! Alicia and Orrin have two sweet little ones, Lillian and Henry. When Lillian stepped out of the car, she was extremely shy but looked adorable in her navy blue dress speckled with golden foil dots. She was bashful at first but very polite when she introduced herself. Henry was already full of energy, he was looking spiffy in his brand new shoes, blue button up shirt and red bowtie. Too cute! He gets his little personality from his dad. Orrin, just like his wife, is very personable but add a slight twist of humor. He welcomed me with such warm hospitality and within minutes he's already had me laughing! You wouldn't guess it with his easy going personality that he is a veteran who served in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. I mentioned to him that my husband was a Marine and he joked that there is no such thing as an ex-Marine and this is so true!
I can tell that Alicia and Orrin make a great team. Not only are they both serving our local community as attorneys but they seem to be very involved in other community-driven activities. But nothing makes them more of a better team as being just mom and dad. If they are not lawyering, they are spending their time with their children doing fun activities like hiking and skiing. They are a busy family! Orrin told me when Alicia underwent emergency surgery, he all of a sudden found himself acting like a single dad raising two kids. He said he appreciated Alicia before but now appreciates her more and in a different light. It definitely makes a world of difference having a partner in life and these two have been killing it for 13 years and counting!
During our session, Lillian and Henry were very excited. No, they weren't excited about taking family pictures - they were excited about their new kitty! Their dad adopted a kitten from the shelter and all they could think about during pictures was cuddling with her. I don't blame them though... new kitty is extremely cute (so kawaii!)
The kids talked about what they would name her and it was the topic of the night. At the end, they haven't yet come to terms with kitty's new name but she made a debut in their family pictures. It was just the cutest thing having the family swooning over her. What a lucky kitty! I'm sure she already loves her new home.
Alicia and Orrin, it was great getting to know your little family. You are all just so much fun! Your children are full of life and personality. I adored capturing the cheerful moments you shared with one another. Lillian is a natural in front of the camera and Henry is a little lovebug. They are both just the sweetest. Thank you for letting me share darling moments with your wonderful family.
Here are some of my favorites from the night... more to come!
