Do you go nuts for your child's birthday party? Are you the type the stays up all night to blow up balloons and put up decorations the day before the party? If you answered yes to these questions, I want to give you a virtual high five! I am the DIY type and because of that I start planning my daughter's birthday party about three months before the actual event. (I know, I know - insert cry laughing emoji here!) For the last three years, my husband and I tag team to throw a small get together at home with our closest friends and family to celebrate our daughter. We do everything together from making the food to decorating and we love it.
Our daughter turned three years old last year and for that party we had a little bit of help from my friend Courtney in making our house festive. She gifted our little Ella a gorgeous pastel balloon arch and some jumbo balloons! It was so special. Ella was so excited about them, it made our house lively and I am forever grateful for having a talented balloon lady as one of my good friends!
When an old friend contacted me for family photos, I was surprised to hear from her. We hadn't seen each other in a while. I mean, we met as fresh high school graduates attending TMCC and then we lost touch a few years after that. We may have ran into each other once at the store but that was years ago too. I was surprised to hear from her, but I was also extremely ecstatic that she contacted me for not only their family photos but to celebrate a huge milestone. They are celebrating their adorable little daughter's FIRST birthday! If you're a parent, you know how *exciting* this time is for a family.
I have always known Anna and Jerome to be an adorable couple when we met at TMCC. It is so special to me that I knew them back then and now that they have their sweet little Amara I am so honored to be a small part of celebrating with their family. The way Anna is as a mom totally resonates with me. As we planned their photoshoot, she was very detail oriented and really poured her heart and soul into making her vision come to life. It was a fun process bouncing ideas off each other. She cares so much about their family photos, so I wanted to bring in Courtney to help complete Anna's concept. I'm so glad Anna got in touch with her because the balloons added that little bit of magic we needed to bring Amara's first birthday photoshoot to life!
The session went extremely well. It's winter time, it's cold; so Anna decided to have an indoor session at Studio Fourteen to keep little Amara comfortable and happy for the photoshoot. With the help of Anna and her older sister, we sang, danced, and made silly noises for Amara. We had the studio to ourselves and we were LOUD. Imagine having the whole production staff of Mother Goose Club except it was only us three loud Filipino women. Haha! We played peek-a-boo, stomped our feet, clapped our hands, you name it - move over Mother Goose Club! The whole place was reverberating, we were laughing, and even with all that in the beginning Amara still gave us a blank confused stare. Tough crowd. Eventually though, she decided to give us a chance that we had her laughing too!
Little Amara is one of the happiest babies I have ever met! She was such a good sport between all of the outfit changes. She had such a great temperament that she made my job so easy! Her parents are so blessed to have such a sweet soul bring so much happiness into their lives. She is truly loved.
Anna and Jerome, thank you for trusting me with little Amara's first birthday photos and your family photos. It is families like yours that keep me going with my photography ventures. You two have been together for a while and I commend you both on growing such a strong relationship through the years. I live for genuine connection, true love, and happy memories. Your family encompasses all three of those things! May God continue to bless your family as little Amara grows.
Happy birthday to your baby girl and congratulations to you two for a job well done as parents!
