Jenn & Forrest | Lake Tahoe Engagement Session | Sand Harbor Nevada State Park

Many of you might already know that I am based out of Reno, NV but that I also photograph weddings in Lake Tahoe. I'm lucky to have Tahoe just in my backyard so that isn't the farthest I travel. In fact, I have photographed weddings outside of my local area which have lead me to make amazing connections with other photographers all over the country!

So last September, when I received a very sweet inquiry through my website I was ecstatic that the couple was referred to me by my friend and Napa Wedding Photographer Corinna of Corinna Rose Photography. It read:

"I was referred to you by Corinna as she was my original photographer, but I had to cancel and reschedule our wedding and unfortunately she was unavailable for the new date. We will now be getting married in Tahoe, and will need a new, equally amazing photographer. I trust her recommendation and would love to see if you would be available for our wedding date. Thank you in advance!

On average, most couples start planning their wedding about 9-months to a year ahead. The first few vendors they secure include their wedding photographer but last year was unpredictable for everyone. Having to witness the repercussions from the perspective of my couples, I knew how devastating it must've been for Jenn and her fiancé Forrest to reschedule their original wedding date and miss out on all the planning they had already done. I always jump at the opportunity to connect with my couples anyway, but when I received Jenn's inquiry I knew I had to hear them out. In my mind, they deserved not just a photographer but also someone who would lend a listening ear.

We connected that same day and within minutes we were chatting like old friends! Jenn was extremely easy to talk to and Forrest is also very laid back. He made a few jokes which helped break the ice! After the call, I sent a text message to Corinna to say thanks for the referral. And also said, "Jenn and Forrest are really cool!" I've said this before and I'll say it again: The one thing I love most about my job as a wedding photographer is that I get to connect with couples who are down-to-earth, fun-loving, and just overall good people.

Jenn and Forrest,

When I think of you two, I think of the saying "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again." Not only did you have to reschedule your original wedding date but the first time we tried to meet for your Engagement Session with me you were turned around due to inclement weather. I'm sure both situations were disheartening but not once did either of you accept defeat. You dusted off, got up and put your best foot forward. YOU. TRIED. AGAIN. You're great as individuals but in the short time I've gotten to know you I can confidently say that together you are a force to be reckoned with. And in just a few months you'll finally be walking down the aisle to become Mr. & Mrs! So excited for you two!
