Do you ever meet people and think to yourself, "Man, they're awesome."
Kellie reached out to me through Instagram inquiring about my availability for their wedding date next year. A few days later, we were able to meet and talk about their wedding plans but our meeting was way more than just about wedding photography. I got to know them on a deeper level; that they are parents to three beautiful children who are Lucas, Emma, and Easton. As a blended family, they are juggling school, work, and all the things but together they are rocking it!
When I asked Kellie what she loved most about Nick, she said that he makes her feel loved especially when she feels uncertain. Nick validates her feelings, addresses her concerns, and makes sure that she is heard. I just loved this because we all know how important this is in a relationship. When your other-half genuinely lends an ear to listen sometimes it's all we need to know that we're cared for and loved.
They shared about themselves, their family, and their life together. And as I got to know more about them, I found myself smiling and crying with them. This is when I thought, "Man, they're awesome." Their story has so much heart and while they're continuing to build a life together they serve as each other's companion and best friend. They're fun-loving, silly, and genuinely happy! And I found out more about them at their Engagement Session.
There's something about waking up at the crack of dawn that is just so magical if you get past the dread of getting up before sunrise. Plus it didn't hurt that Kellie & Nick picked the most perfect location for their session. It was off the beaten path surrounded with Aspen trees and when you get a little ways the view of the lake and mountains is breathtaking. There is a presence there that is calm and peaceful and it was absolutely perfect!
When we got started, Kellie found a feather that she picked up. This is very symbolic because she recently lost her mom to a tragic accident and Kellie honors her memory in every way possible. Kellie also wears a necklace that is a daily reminder of her. And to ensure she was with them at their session, they brought a big bottle of La Marca Prosecco which is Kellie's mom's favorite sparkling wine... it's very sweet that Kellie always keeps her mom by her side.
I always say that I'm honored to be a small part of people's stories. Because I truly am. My job is not about beautiful photos and while that's a bonus my true objective is to get to the heart of what's really important which is togetherness and honoring those who have played such a big role in your lives. And so I'll say it again...
Kellie and Nick, you have a guardian angel watching over you and your family. You have a happiness about you that is contagious and I'm truly honored that you've trusted me to capture your most precious memories together and for allowing me to be part of your lives. You're both awesome and I've enjoyed spending moments with you; the laughter that we've shared and the fact that we're building a friendship is even more special. If this is how much fun we've already had in such a short time, I really can't wait to see what's ahead for your wedding day!
