We all know what the bro code is but are you aware that there's also a girl code? I'm not talking about the TV show which I actually didn't know existed until I googled it. I'm talking about THE CODE that us ladies follow when there's a conflict of interest. A love triangle perhaps? You're probably thinking, "Kate, what in the world are you talking about?"
My best friend and I have been friends for almost 25 years. That's a quarter of a century and it's a long time! So in those years, at some point, we may or may not have had a crush on the same boy in school. There's this girl code that if someone that you know is interested in the person that you also like then you step aside. That's just how it works! Am I right ladies?
There were two things that stopped her from pursuing him. One: they worked together, and two: she was aware that another one of her coworkers was also crushing on him. Little did she know that he also felt the same about her. He came up to her at work one day with a note that she thought was for her but when he walked away with it she thought, "Did I just get friend zoned?"
It's funny, but that's the beginning of Kate and Matt's love story.
Kate's been a bridesmaid for nine weddings so far (we're looking at you Katherine Heigl!) And yesterday is the tenth wedding but this one's a *little* different.
This time she's the BRIDE.
Matt proposed to Kate in her most favorite place in the world: the barn with the loves of her life who are her gorgeous AQHA mare horse Sassy and their most adorable frenchie Talulah.
Matt gets ALL the points for setting the most romantic proposal. Imagine this... lights twinkling against the darkness of the night, Backstreet Boys playing in the background, and red lights shaped into hearts softly glowing from the floor.
Can I just say, I-LOOOVE-BSB! *You are. My fiii-yurrr. The one. Desiii-yurrr...* Sorry, that was just me singing in my head...
I am totally head over heels about their proposal story and yesterday I was super excited to meet them in Tahoe for their elopement on the beach. They flew in from the PNW for a weekend getaway with some of their closest friends who joined them as they tied the knot.
The waves splashed gently along the shore. The wind is blowing, there's a chill to the air, but when I look around it gives me all the warm feels. Everyone is smiling. Even in passing, strangers are happy. They smile at Kate and Matt as if to say, congratulations.
Kate and Matt, the relationship you've forged through the years is so special. Your fun-loving personalities are so refreshing and contagious. I loved that your closest friends were able to join you on the day that you officially become Mr. & Mrs. Thank you for letting me be part of your day. It is extra special to me since I know only a select few knew about your special plans this weekend. Congratulations to the both of you and wishing you wedded bliss for years to come!
Here's a quick peek at how your day went. Enjoy!
